Huhtamaki has pleased the responsible part of the world’s population with paper blisters for packaging tablets. In 2020, European flexible packaging sales in the pharmaceutical category were € 1.1 billion, of which about 80% were in blister packaging.
“We are proud to present a sustainable packaging solution for the healthcare sector with broad application prospects,” says Fabio Daidone, director of sales for flexible packaging at Huhtamaki. – The packaging is made using special Push Tab® paper, which consists of 75% of raw materials certified in accordance with the FSC standard, and has an advanced barrier coating technology. On July 27, 2021, Push Tab® paper was awarded the German Packaging Institute (Deutsche Verpackungsinstitut) German Packaging Award for sustainability. The new packaging is intended to replace the traditional packaging, which is usually made of thermoformed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and aluminum.
