Further plans of the company to increase production volumes by 1.5-2 times are related to the packaging segment. In 2021, the company plans to add another 40 thousand tons to this figure.
“If we talk about newsprint, we have reduced the volume of its production, keeping the most attractive markets in the order book,” says Aleksey Vdovin, Deputy General Director for Sales of Volga AO.
– The reduction was in favor of the release of packaging paper, which is more in demand today. Since December 2019, we have begun to systematically increase our presence in the segment of ultra-light and light liners and fluting.
– The re-profiling means that our plans to increase production volumes by 1.5-2 times are associated with the packaging segment while maintaining our positions in the newsprint segment, which is traditional for us.
In May 2020, Volga AO completed two major investment projects – the launch of a new production of thermomechanical pulp (with a capacity of 180 tons per day) and the reconstruction of the PT-80 turbine in the power complex (NiGRES) with an increase in electricity generation by 4.5-7.0 MW depending on the season.
The volume of investments in these projects amounted to more than RUB 1.5 billion. The company also completed several other projects, which made it possible to load the paper machines to 100%.
“This made it possible to increase paper output by about 20 thousand tons already in 2020, and next year we will add another 40 thousand to this figure and reach production volumes of up to 330 thousand tons,” says Alexey Vdovin.
